Obesity and Nutritional Interventions

Obesity is now recognised as disease in its own right, though largely preventable through changes in diet and lifestyle. The growing rate of obesity in developing countries has become an issue of concern across the continent. This course will explore the differences between being overweight and being obese, methods in determining obesity, obesity among children and the behaviour and dietary changes.

The course students will be able to appraise factors implicated in obesity development and target nutritional methods used as interventions.
